Coale '65 appointed to Howard Community College’s Board of Trustees

Edmund “Skip” Coale III '65, president of Coale, Pripstein & Associates, P.A., a fullservice accounting firm based in Columbia, has been appointed to Howard Community College’s Board of Trustees by Governor Martin J. O’Malley, effective July 1, 2010. Mr. Coale, a resident of Highland, MD succeeds T. James Truby, chair of the board, whose tenure ends June 2010.

Prior to forming Coale, Pripstein and Associates, P.A., Mr. Coale served as a sole proprietor, manager for the small business department of C.J. Ecalano & Co., and as manager at Matthews, Carter and Boyce, Certified Public Accountants in Washington, DC. He is a 2001 recipient of the U.S. Small Business Administration Accountant Advocate of the Year for the State of Maryland.

As an accountant serving the small business community, Mr. Coale is an active member of the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants. He has served on a number of committees for the association, including the Management of an Accounting Practice Committee, the Sole Practitioner Committee, and the Professional Ethics Committee, of which he was chairman.

Mr. Coale attended Catonsville Community College and later matriculated to the University of Maryland, College Park. In 1969, he was drafted into the United States Army and served in South Vietnam. After being honorably discharged from the military, Mr. Coale returned to The University of Maryland to complete his bachelor’s degree.
